The glamour of a beauty pageant and intensity of the horse show ring culminate in the annual State Fair Cowgirl Queen contest. Judged on both riding skills and personal appearance, more than 120 Iowans compete for the honor of reigning as Cowgirl Queen. Highlights from the show ring include the Cowgirl Queen salute, a hallmark of the competition, and the crowning of this year’s junior and senior Cowgirl Queens. Feature commentary by show judge, Amanda Eason, Miss Rodeo Iowa 2007.
