Caring for Your Parents: On the Monday, March 31 edition of The Iowa Journal

March 28, 2008

(Johnston, Iowa) – Monday’s episode of The Iowa Journal will explore the issue of caring for aging parents. The program airs Monday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. It will be rebroadcast Friday, April 4 at 9:00 p.m. on statewide IPTV-Plus and will also be available online at Iptv.org.

Nearly 15 percent of Iowa's population is over 65. People 85 years and older are Iowa's fastest growing age group. As the population ages many adults find themselves becoming the primary caregivers for their aging parents. This episode of The Iowa Journal examines the challenges and options for senior care.

In the studio to disucss these issues will be John McCalley, director of the Iowa Department of Elder Affairs; and Anthony Carroll, associate state director for advocacy for AARP Iowa.
