Iowa Public Television Announces Plans to Broadcast New Doctor Who Series
February 7, 2007
Iowa Public Television today
announced broadcast plans for the first season of the new Doctor Who series on the
statewide network. Beginning March 24, new episodes of the popular series will
be broadcast on Saturdays at 11:05 p.m. and on Sundays at 6 p.m. A sneak peek
at the new series and new shorts, Doctor Who Confidential, will air
Saturday, March 10.
Iowa Public Television’s broadcast of the new series, which features Christopher
Eccleston and Billie Piper, marks the first time Iowans can see the new
episodes without commercial interruption.
In addition to the new episodes, Iowa Public Television will also debut
a new series of short stories, Doctor Who Confidential. These stories
range in length from 10 to 13 minutes, and include “making of” footage, as well
as features with past actors from the long-running series and illustrative
clips. The stories are designed for broadcast with the new series, and will be
scheduled immediately following each week's new Doctor Who episode.
The classic Doctor Who episodes will continue to air Saturday nights, as
well, pending continued viewer support of the series. Doctor Who fans
are encouraged to tune in at a special time on Saturday, March 10 at 10 p.m.
when the new Doctor Who and Doctor Who Confidential debut
on statewide Iowa Public Television during Festival 2007.
