July 19, 2011
Iowa Public Television currently offers three programming channels:
- IPTV (.1)--IPTV's main schedule airs on the .1 digital channel. Here's where you'll find PBS Kids programs in the daytime, documentaries, British comedies, how-to programs and more.
- IPTV LEARNS (.2)--The .2 digital channel is IPTV LEARNS. This channel features great how-to programs during most of the day and PBS KIDS programs from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. weekdays. One weekends you'll see PBS KIDS programs during the day, and how-to programs in the evenings.
- IPTV WORLD (.3)--This channel broadcasts quality local, national and international public affairs programs, including Iowa Press, Market to Market, and IPTV's Intelligent Talk Television series. In addition, IPTV airs special programming on IPTV WORLD designed to engage and inform our audiences.
These channels are available, free of charge, to viewers who are watching IPTV with an antenna and a digital television set, or a set connected to a digital converter box.
Mediacom Cable carries these channels statewide in a digital cable package - with IPTV Learns on channel 118, and IPTV World on channel 119. A special box is available from Mediacom to allow viewers without digital cable the opportunity to watch 118 and 119. In addition, several other cable companies throughout the state have indicated they carry LEARNS and WORLD. IPTV offers these channels to all pay TV services free of charge.
Direct TV and DISH Network have no plans to carry IPTV WORLD and LEARNS. Satellite viewers can still see these channels via an antenna for free.
