Changes to the Mediacom Kids' Channel and Mediacom Carriage of IPTV Learns and IPTV World
April 10, 2009
Next Thursday, Mediacom subscribers in Central and Eastern Iowa will be able to see our two additional channels, IPTV Learns and IPTV World, on channels 118 and 119. Viewers should check with Mediacom to determine what programming packages are required to receive these two additional channels. Of course, Iowa Public Television’s primary program schedule can still be seen on Mediacom as it is now.
For the past few years, Mediacom has broadcast 24 hours of PBS KIDS programming on Channel 18 in Central Iowa only. They provided this channel for us until the digital television transition. Beginning April 16, Mediacom channel 18 will no longer broadcast IPTV's children's programming. At that time, IPTV's children's programs can be seen weekdays from 6:30 - 5:30 p.m. on IPTV (for example, channel 11 in Central Iowa), every night from 5:30 - 10 p.m. on Mediacom channel 118 (IPTV Learns), and weekend mornings on IPTV. Full schedules are available on the front page of our Web site.
These programs are now available statewide, and many PBS KIDS episodes are available online as well. We’ve been alerting channel 18 viewers of the changes, and Mediacom has informed customers of their broadcast of IPTV Learns and IPTV World.
