IPTV Shutting Down Transmitters Overnight
December 29, 2009
As part of IPTV's efforts to balance our 10 percent state budget cut, we will begin reducing our utility costs by shutting down our transmitters nightly from midnight to 5 a.m., effective January 4, 2010. For viewer who watch Iowa Public Television over the air, this means our service will not be available in the overnight hours. (Mediacom will continue to broadcast our schedule 24 hours a day.)
To accommodate this change, we are making some programs available earlier in the evening for viewers unable to watch them after midnight due to the shut off.
For example, Charlie Rose and Tavis Smiley will continue to air at their regular times on IPTV for viewers watching Mediacom. We will also make them available on IPTV WORLD at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. respectively.
In addition, Create programming currently airing on IPTV LEARNS from 10 p.m. to midnight will be preempted to make room for K-12 classroom programming that was previously available in the overnights to over-the-air viewers.
IPTV LEARNS can be found over the air at IPTV.2. It is also available on Mediacom channel 118. IPTV WORLD can be found over the air at IPTV.3 and on Mediacom channel 119. Mediacom subscribers who can't receive channels 118 and 119 should contact Mediacom for information on how to do so. Cable subscribers who receive service from companies other than Mediacom should also contact their service providers for information on how to receive IPTV LEARNS and IPTV WORLD.
