June 22, 2010
On Monday, June 28 the PBS series History Detectives will feature a segment from Iowa. Host Wes Cowan traveled to Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant to examine the history of a Copperhead cane. The cane - owned by Lancaster, Missouri resident Cindy Wilcox - is said to have been owned by Henry Clay Dean, a member of the powerful anti-Lincoln group "The Copperheads." Cowan spent time in Dean's stomping grounds in Iowa to track the story.
In Iowa, the program will air at 8 p.m. on Iowa Public Television.
History Detectives is a popular PBS series where history investigators crisscross the country, delving into legends, folklore and personal histories to discover potentially extraordinary objects in everyday American homes, cities and small towns.
