Iowa Public Television Offers Career Exploration Sessions to Iowa High School Students Via the ICN

Free sessions for students interested in a variety of careers

(Johnston, Iowa)  -- As part of the network’s commitment to providing opportunities for learners of all ages, Iowa Public Television will offer a series of free, interactive “Career Day” sessions.

Designed for students in grades 9 – 12 and conducted over the Iowa Communications Network (ICN), Career Day sessions feature professionals working in industries ranging from engineering to veterinary medicine, and more. Students can interact live with the career professionals over the statewide fiber-optic network.

One such session will allow students the opportunity to learn about work as a nurse anesthetist. The 50-minute presentation includes a discussion with a nurse anesthetist about his career path, relevant coursework, and daily work. Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the professional, and see a video of him working in his field. This session will take place on February 28 and March 28.

Iowa Public Television provides these learning opportunities for teachers and students at no charge to schools, in collaboration with the Iowa Communications Network.

A full list of the Career Day sessions, as well as registration information, can be found at www.iptv.org/education via the “IDLD ICN Event Calendar” link.

Parents of 9th -12th graders interested in registering for the session should contact their local school for information.
