Iowa Public Television Audience Increases 15 Percent in a Year
(Johnston, Iowa) -- Audiences for Iowa Public Television’s KDIN (channel 11) in the Des Moines-Ames market have increased 15 percent in the last year, according to TRAC Media Services (February 2011).
KDIN, part of Iowa Public Television’s statewide network of stations, saw increases of an average of 15 percent in the number of viewers watching each week when compared to the same measurement period a year ago. Due to budget constraints, Iowa Public Television only measures audience numbers in the network’s largest viewing area, the Des Moines-Ames television market. However, past research has shown that the results for KDIN are typically similar statewide.
“With ever-increasing options on television today, we are heartened to learn that more people are watching Iowa Public Television,” said Daniel K. Miller, executive director and general manager of Iowa Public Television. “Viewers are responding to our coverage of local events, trusted news and public affairs programs, and quality offerings in science and the arts. We will continue our work to provide this important statewide service for all Iowans.”
Iowa Public Television measures audience numbers on an annual basis, tracking both current numbers and viewership trends.
