Statement on The Candidates 2008: The Republicans on Health Care and Financial Security

October 19, 2007

Due to a lack of participation by Republican candidates for President, the AARP has revised the format of the Presidential forum originally scheduled for October 25.

AARP will now host debate with Arizona Sen. John McCain and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. The debate will still take place Thursday evening, but Iowa Public Television will not broadcast it live in its entirety.

Instead, we will send a crew to record the event and will include excerpts from the event in Thursday’s and/or Monday’s editions of The Iowa Journal as part of our coverage of the important issues of health care and financial security.

On Thursday, October 25, Iowa Public Television will broadcast programs that spotlight Sioux City. At 7 p.m., don't miss Puttin' On the Glitz, about the restoration of Sioux City's Orpheum Theatre. Then at 7:25 p.m., catch IPTV's coverage of this year's Saturday in the Park celebration.
