Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter present their unique perspectives on current humanitarian and social justice issues in this 2012 lecture. Active in national and international public policy since their presidency, the couple has founded a non-profit institution called The Carter Center, as well as instituting projects promoting mental health, physical health and immunizations for children, and Habitat for Humanity. In 2002, Jimmy Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his “decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts” and other efforts. This appearance took place on September 13, 2012, at Drake University in Des Moines. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Martin Bucksbaum Distinguished Lecture Series and the Slay Fund for Social Justice. [58 minutes]
