That Tree

That Tree

A lone bur oak tree may have forever changed the professional and personal life of one photographer in northeast Iowa. A former newspaper photographer, Mark Hirsch left the fields of Friday Night Football, local festivals, and crime photos to broaden his horizons. He never dreamed his journey would become an online phenomenon. In 2012, Mark Hirsch began a 365-day photographic journey with a single picture on his iPhone. A solitary tree in a lonesome cornfield was a simple subject with a deeper meaning: rediscovering his own skills and reconnecting with nature. [49 minutes] Closed Captioning
