GREAT PERFORMANCES | Rise and Fall of The City of Mahagonny | LA Opera

Duration: 02:21

Audra McDonald, Patti LuPone and Anthony Dean Griffey star in Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny from LA Opera, a new production of one of the great 20th century operas. Tune in to PBS' GREAT PERFORMANCES series (check local listings) for this savage and lyrical satire told in a blend of opera and raucous music hall songs. Tony Award-winner John Doyle (Company) directs.

In this video clip, Audra McDonald sings the opera's best-known song, 'Moon of Alabama.'

GREAT PERFORMANCES is produced for PBS by Thirteen/WNET New York.
