Duration: 07:43
Program: The Iowa Journal #308
Broadcast Date: Oct. 30, 2009

Collection: Kathryn Koob

Paul Yeager interviews Kathryn Koob, hostage taken in Iran in 1979.

How is the United States viewed now? How is Iran viewed now? Looking back, did her experience in Iran overshadow her life? And, how does Kathryn hope she be remembered - for anything other than her 444 days in captivity?

In 1979, Koob was the director of the Iran-American cultural center. While there, she was abducted and held hostage in Tehran for the 444 days by Iranian students. She has chronicled her life in a book called "Guest of the Revolution" and is now an instructor at Wartburg College in Waverly.
